Page of Pentacles

The "Pages" in the Tarot Deck may also be known by other names (depending on the deck used).
For example, the Golden Dawn Deck includes "Princesses" and the Shapeshifter's Tarot includes "Seekers" in place of the "Pages" in the Rider-Waite deck.

All Court Cards may be interpreted as referring to a person - the card itself including information to identify the individual. Alternatively they may be interpreted symbolically, in which case "Pages" are often understood to represent "Messages" for the Querent (which is another word for the "sitter", or person receiving the reading).

The element of the Pages is "Earth" indicating something young, growing, a seed planted. Pages often indicate children, but otherwise they can represent the "Fool's" alter ego. That is, an adult who is child-like enough might also be represented by a "Page" ("Princess", or "Seeker").

Page of Pentacles is immersed in the world in all of its wonder. The different decks interpret this slightly differently - with the the Rider-Waite Page of Pentacles portraying student with all of his attention focussed onto an upheld Pentacle. The Robin Wood Page of Pentages is a yong girl barefoot in a natural setting (grounded) with a richly decorated book and gleaming Pentacle

This card may bring the message that the situation in question may teach us something important about our own personal nature or wisdom.

Keywords summarising the possible meanings of this card include:

  • Careful, Responsible, Child
  • Immersion in the wonders of the world
  • Messages / News
  • Scholarship
  • Studious.

Remember that all of the Pentacles cards in the Tarot Deck have some energies in common. These include, for example, the overall association of the suit of Pentacles with the element of earth and material concerns. For further information, read about the Suit of Pentacles in general.

Some texts include meanings for "reversed cards", which apply when the cards are shuffled in both order and orientation. This doubles the number of possible "cards" in the deck from 78 to 156. (In terms of the probabilities of obtaining results by chance alone, it is not a simple doubling as once a card has been drawn it cannot be selected again in the opposite orientation in the same reading.)
