             Woodstock
(Oxfordshire) is not to be confused with Woodstock (New York State).

Our English Woodstock is located on the A44 north of the City of
Oxford and Kidlington, yet south of Chipping Norton.

The Italian Gardens at Blenheim Palace, Oxfordshire.
    This area was
not open to the public at the time of our visit.

            Woodstock is
              best
                known
                as the location
of Blenheim Palace, birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill (British
                Prime Minister during WWII).
Blenheim Palace and it's extensive grounds are well worth a visit.
There is easily enough to entertain a family for the whole day.
Attractions include the house itself, the Butterfly House (indoor),
a miniature railway and (near to the Butterfly House), a miniature
zoo or "Pets' Corner". There is also a lake on which boat rides
are sometimes available. The usual facilities are also present
              - gift shop, coffee shop, and beautiful walks around the grounds.
Members of the National Trust note that this is not a NT property
so expect to pay entrance fees etc..
The photograph below is the classical view of Blenheim Palace.
This photograph was taken in 2002 but, with the possible exception
of the styles of dress worn by people and the vehicles seen around
the grounds, the view itself is much the same as one would have
seen from this position at any time over the last few hundred years.
